Kabir Jayanti celebrated with fervour, gaiety

KISHTWAR, July 3: Kabir Jayanti was celebrated with full fervour and gaiety here today. In this connection a function was organized by SC and ST Retired Employees Forum Kishtwar led by B R Bhagat its district president.
The function among others was addressed by G R Bhagat Aryan, general secretary of the Forum. The speakers threw light on the life and teachings of Sant Kabir -one of the strong pillars of Bhakti Movement in India.
They said that Sant Kabir taught amity, peace, brotherhood and communal harmony and his message was that entire society is one community and no religion teaches hatred and violence.
The lectures on the life of Sant Kabir were also given by students and ladies they said the teachings of this great saint of India are more relevant today when the world is facing chaos and confusion.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Capt (retd) Dewan Chand.
Som Nath Sharma, Kewal Krishan Sharma and Geeta Devi also spoke on the occasion.
The function was postponed by a week due to visit of Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh and AICC president Sonia Gandhi to Kishtwar last week.
