Kajol promotes handwashing campaign

MUMBAI, Aug 27: Bollywood star Kajol has put her weight behind the cause of handwashing among kids with ‘Help A Child Reach 5’ campaign.
The 39-year-old mother of two said she was moved to tears when she watched a film about how one child dies from diarrhoea or pneumonia in every 15 seconds making it two million children each year, something that can be prevented through handwashing.
“As a mother, I was moved to tears while watching the film. It is simply not acceptable that a child dies from preventable diseases.
“I am proud to be supporting Lifebuoy’s ‘Help a Child Reach 5’ campaign. I would urge everyone to donate to the cause of spreading handwashing awareness. The simple act of handwashing can save the lives of so many children,” she said in a statement.
The “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” star also wants her fans to donate to handwashing campaign. The proceeds from it will go to Population Services International (PSI), a leading health organization for implementing handwashing programmes. (PTI)
