Kalam, Sunita Williams to participate in 101st Indian Science Congress

JAMMU, Oct 4: Former President APJ Abdul Kalam and world renowned astronaut Sunita Williams will participate in the 101st Indian Science Congress being hosted by University of Jammu in February and inaugurated by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
This was stated by General President Indian Science Congress Association Prof RC Sobti during a press conference here today.
Prof Sobti said Dr Kalam has kindly consented to inaugurate Children Congress, a part of the Conference. Williams will be interacting with the students during the event, he added.
Flanked by Vice Chancellor University of Jammu, Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, who is also the President of the Congress, General President outlined special features of the Congress.
He said all the concerned departments of the University and the various State agencies are working in tandem to make this event a grand success.
Prof Naresh Padha and Prof Meena Sharma local Secretaries ISCA were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, General President and Vice Chancellor discussed the status of preparations made for the occasion at a meeting of the Council and Executive Members. The meeting discussed the overall preparation, arrangement, checking of the various venues, etc to make the Congress a memorable event.
Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar said that 10,000 delegates from all over the world are participating in it. He said the University of Jammu, State administration and the civil society are working in conjunction to have it a grand success.
Meanwhile, details about the Congress were discussed at a meeting of the Sectional Presidents and Local Sectional Secretaries with the office bearers of the ISCA.
On the occasion, a power point presentation was given with regard to accommodation, registration, catering, emergency services and other facilities by the Local Secretaries ISCA, Prof Naresh Padha and Prof Meena Sharma.
