Kalaunji, jeera decline on subdued demand

NEW DELHI, Feb 22: Kalaunji and jeera prices fell by Rs 200 per quintal in the national capital today owing to subdued demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks.
Fresh arrivals from producing markets also put pressure on the select spice prices.
Kalaunji prices fell by Rs 200 to conclude at Rs 8,000-9,300 per quintal.
Jeera common and jeera best quality also declined by Rs 200 each to finish at Rs 11,200-11,600 and Rs 15,300-15,600 per quintal, respectively.
Marketmen said subdued demand from retailers and stockists against adequate stocks, mainly pulled down kalaunji and jeera prices on the wholesale kirana market here.
The following are today’s quotations per quintal:
Ajwain 13,500-18,500, black pepper (per kg) 510-640, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,000-1,100 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,150-1,280.
Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 650-750, cardamom (colour robin) 600-700, cardamom bold 650-700, cardamom extra (bold) 800-900 and cloves (kg) 855-930. (AGENCIES)
