NEW DELHI, Dec 21: Kalhota, other Doda villages to be linked to new National Highway (NH) 244. This was stated here, today by Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister and Lok Sabha MP from the region after a meeting with Minister of Road transport and Highways (MoRTH) Nitin Gadkari.
Pertinent to mention, Kalhota also happens to be the native ancestral village of Dr Jitendra Singh.
Khellani-Goha road National Highway-244 work is being done in double shift, in order to make up for the delay on account of pandemic and to ensure that the entire project is completed as soon as possible. The double shift was taken up earlier this year on the request of Dr Jitendra Singh.
Goha-Khellani-Khannabal National Highway NH-244 linking Chenani-Sudhmahadev-Khellani-Chattroo-Khannabal will provide an alternative route of road transport, which will not only provide ease of travel and revenue but would also be important from the security point of view. As per the timeline fixed after the pandemic, Phase-I of Goha-Khellani road is likely to be completed by end this year, while the further stretch upto Chattroo in district Kishtwar is likely to be completed by February 2024.
Meanwhile, construction of bi-directional tunnel on the Khellani-Khannabal section is completed at a cost of Rs 76.49 crore.
Dr Jitendra Singh also complimented the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for taking keen interest in linking the far flung areas of J&K which were hitherto neglected with National Highways and other important roads.
