Kalsotra appeals LG to assure basic amenities for poor during lockdown

JAMMU, Mar 21: RK Kalsotra, State President All India Confederation of SC ST OBC Organisations wrote to the Lieutenat Governor of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, GC Murmu to assure the basic amenities for the poor during the lockdown and panic due to COVID-19.
Kalsotra welcomed the decision of Janta Curfew proposed by the Prime Minister and appreciated the efforts of Govt to restrict the virus from entering pandemic stage-III.
He also suggested that the govt should extend the lockdown to put curbs on spreading of Corona cases.
While appreciating the social distancing and lockdown, Kalsotra raised concern over the poorer sections of the society dwelling in slums and earning livelihood by begging.
Kalsotra suggested that the Govt should immediately release funds to provide the basic amenities to those who cannot afford the same in the prevailing situation.
He said that ration for at least 10-15 days should be provided for free or subsidised costs so that the poor don’t have to worry about basic amenities during the lockdown.
