LUCKNOW, Mar 1:
Kalyan Singh, the political heavyweight of Uttar Pradesh, will formally rejoin the Bhartaiya Janata Party tomorrow at party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s ‘Vijay Shankhnaad” rally in Lucknow.
Mr Singh has resigned from the parliamentary seat of Etah in UP as independent candidate to rejoin the BJP formally, he announced at a press conference here this afternoon. “I have resigned from 15th Lok Sabha on February 25 last and excited to move ahead with the BJP,” he said.
The former UP chief minister and frontal leader of the BJP during Ayodhya movement in 1990s ,though had shared the dias with BJP president Rajnath Singh at a rally in Lucknow on January 21 last but could not join the party due to technicalities. His party Jan Kranti Party was merged into BJP on that day.
Expressing full faith in the leadership qualities of Modi, he said that the BJP had already upset the plans of the Congress to make the next Lok Sabha polls campaign secular versus communal.”The people have understood the anti-people stance of the Congress and BJP has already emerged as the next alternative at the Centre,” Mr Singh claimed.
The country had been swept by the wave of Modi and as the polls approached it would turn into a storm, he pointed out. Making light of the efforts of some parties to forge thrid front, Kalyan Singh said these parties had no credibility as they were seen at elections time only.
In reply to a question if the Ram Temple was in the agenda of the party, he said it was on the agenda of every hindu of the country. (UNI)
