Kamath appointed as Chairman IBA

JAMMU, Sept 23: Managing Committee of Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) at its meeting appointed KR Kamath, Chairman and Managing Director, Punjab National Bank (PNB), as the Chairman of IBA.
He will take over the charge from Alok Misra, who will retire in the end of this month.
Kamath is presently one of the Deputy Chairman of the association.
Kamath joined PNB as Chairman and Managing Director in October 2009. Prior to that, he was Chairman and Managing Director of Allahabad Bank. He is well known in banking fraternity for his conceptual clarity, insight, communication skills and ability to build result-oriented teams.
The committee also appointed TM Bhasin, Chairman and Managing Director, Indian Bank as Deputy Chairman.
Other Deputy Chairmen are Bhaskar Sen, Chairman and Managing Director, United Bank of India, Chanda Kochar, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, ICICI Bank. Pratip Chaudhuri, Chairman, State Bank of India is the Honorary Secretary of the Association.
