Sir,
Refer news item ‘Hamlet Kandel without power even after 65 yrs of independence’ DE Apr 9.
The news items reflects the reality of our remote regions. These regions remain undeveloped and neglected by the Governments unless people of these regions cry hoarse to get demands conceded from the authorities. In case the Government was not in a position to provide them electricity, they should have been atleast provided with solar light. Even that is not available to them.
It is a matter of concern that these people live in darkness even after 65 years of independence. These village look like villages of medieval India.
Not only this, these villages also lack basic amenities of life. There are no facilities for healthcare for which people have to travel many kilometers on foot.
The Government should frame a Rural development policy to uplift them from abject poverty and squalor.
Yours etc….
