SAMBA, Mar 2: Apni Party senior vice president, Ghulam Hassan Mir today urged the Government to provide basic amenities in the Kandi belt of Samba district.
“The previous Government has failed to develop the Kandi belt of Jammu plains. The Kandi belt of Samba lacks proper infrastructure, road connectivity, drinking water and electricity supply,” said former Minister.
Mir was addressing a public gathering at Chanoori in Sumb area of Samba district. During the meeting, the people of the area, mostly nomads, appraised Gh. Hassan Mir that the unscheduled power cuts, poor water supply system and adverse infrastructure has affected their daily life.
Mir assured them that their demands would be projected before the concerned authorities for early redressal. This public meeting was organized by Master Lal Mohd.
Earlier, speaking on the occasion, Gh. Hassan Mir said that the administration does not listen to the public issues and the issues of providing basic amenities like water, road, electricity and cleanliness is their responsibility.
“The administration should be made accountable for their failure to redress the routine issues of the public. The elected Government is in need of the hour in such circumstances where administration stops listening to the people,” he added.
He said that “J&K needs an elected Government as the bureaucracy has done nothing good for the people. Their adamant attitude has created more issues and alienated people from the public friendly policies of the Central Government.”
Provincial president, Jammu and former Minister, Manjit Singh speaking on the occasion, highlighted local issues of the Kandi belt.
He said that “It is unfortunate that Chanoori village is not being supplied drinking water even after seven decades of Independence. The village in Samba district seems backward because it has neither drinking water supply nor proper road connectivity. Samba – Sumb – Goran road is in the worst condition. The main road leading towards famous religious place Goran Devta is in deplorable condition which shows lack of interest from the Government.”
He demanded that it should be constructed and warned that the people will hold protests if the construction of road is not taken up on priority basis.
He said the former representatives of the village neglected the local nomadic population and it is evident that the people of this village still have to travel three to four km on foot to fetch drinking water.
He said that SC and ST communities have been neglected with regard to the development of their localities.
