SRINAGAR, Aug 2: Two deputations from district Ganderbal today called on the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, and presented memoranda relating to their concerns.
A delegation of Dard / Shin community residing in Kangan tehsil, after it migrated from Telail, Gurez in 1970, drew the attention of the Chief Minister towards settlement of their demand for issuance of Schedule Tribe Certificate in Kangan.
They stated that while all the specified communities are enjoying the benefits of the ST status, only the Dard / Shin community residing in tehsil Kangan is being deprived of their right.
Another deputation of Awami Behbood Committee, Youngoora, in Ganderbal tehsil, requested Mufti Sayeed for reconsidering the case of their village for inclusion in the list of Backward Areas. In their representation, they made a fervent appeal for revisiting their case on the basis of general backwardness of Youngoora, particularly in terms of lack of basic amenities like health, communication and connectivity as well as poor indicators on other socio-economic parameters.
The Chief Minister assured that he will look into the specific demands raised by both the delegations for immediate necessary action by the Revenue and Social Welfare Departments.
