JAMMU, Mar 13: The villagers from Kanna Shargal (Upper) today held protest demonstration against the PHE authorities at BC Road outside PHE Complex and disrupted movement of vehicles for some time on the main road here today.
The people of the area, mostly from Gujjar community including those from Ward No. 5 Sandoli Mawali, led by local former Panch and social activist Jamat Ali assembled at BC Road PHE Complex during the day and held protest demonstration. They were raising slogans against PHE authorities for their failure to ensure supply of drinking water.
The villagers led by some women also blocked road by staging dharna. The movement of traffic was disrupted for some time. The villagers alleged that for the last 10 months the people of this area are facing crisis. They had brought the matter to the notice of PHE authorities Jammu but they did not bother.
Jamat Ali said the people had staged protest demonstration on March 5, 2018 and the concerned AEE and Xen had assured to solve their problem within five days but they have been again forced to lodge protest at PHE Complex. He said there was no governance and officers are least bothered. They have taken public issues casually and no accountability is seen any where. He said the pumping system at the village is not functioning and department has failed to get it repaired.
Ali sought intervention of DC Jammu and Chief Engineer PHE Jammu in this concerned. Haji Amir-u-Din Kassana, Murad Ali, Shamsh Din, Majeed and Mushtaq Ahmed also accompanied.
