Karan Singh donates Rs 50 lakh for Uttrakhand victims

JAMMU, June 28: Rajya Sabha Member Dr Karan Singh has donated Rs 50 lakh from, his MPLADS Fund for relief and rehabilitation of victims of Himalayan Tsunami in Uttrakhand which has caused untold havoc there.
In a statement Dr Singh said he was out of India when two monotonous events occurred, one a monumental tragedy, while the other a monumental achievement.
He said besides Rs 5 lakh from his MPLAD fund, Rs 5 lakh were donated by him on behalf of Dharmarth Trust Jammu and Kashmir.
However, said the achievement, of course, has been the completion of 11 km long tunnel between Qazigund and Banihal which he described as a remarkable technical achievement and said, “It is befitting that Dr Manmohan Singh and Mrs Sonia Gandhi participated in the inauguration, as well as in the hydel power plants in Kishtwar”.
