Kargil CEC discusses relaxation measures with religious heads, businessmen

KARGIL, June 29: In order to review the status of the ongoing lockdown measures in the district and to take further decisions with regard to the continuation of restrictions and relaxations post June 30 in view of the COVID-19 pandemic, Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan today chaired a meeting of the heads of religious organizations, concerned officers of the Administration, doctors and representative of Merchants’ Association here.
Executive Councilor for Health Muhammad Ali Chandan, District Magistrate/ Deputy Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary, SSP Kargil Dr Vinod Kumar, Additional DC Kargil Tsering Motup, Additional SP Kargil Iftikhar Talib Choudhary, representatives of Anjuman e Jamiatul Ulema Isna Ashariya Kargil (AJUIAK), Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT), Kargil, Anjuman e Ahle Sunnat Wal Jama’at Kargil, Anjuman e Sufia Noorbakshiya Kargil, Anjuman e Sahib Zaman Kargil and Buddhist Association Kargil, CMO Kargil Dr Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, Nodal Officer COVID Hospital Kargil and Senior Physician Specialist Dr Vilayat Ali, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Shabir Hussain, President Merchants’ Association Kargil besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.
During the course of the meeting, threadbare discussion was held on the current status of COVID-19 pandemic in the district and the possible measures to be taken with regard to the continuation and modifications in the relaxations and restrictions underway presently.
The representatives of religious organizations and the members of Merchants’ Association put forth their suggestions and recommendations in terms of relaxations and restrictions post June 30, 2020. They urged the authorities to consider relaxations to promote economic activities in the district considering the short working season and other seasonal limitations.
Addressing the meeting the CEC Kargil said that the decision with regard to continuance and modification of lockdown restrictions and relaxations post June 30 will be taken in the best interest of the people.
He said that there is no plan to open schools and colleges in the district in near future and online as well as offline video classes are being run to cater to the educational requirements of the student community. Khan also said that the matter with regard to the mass promotion of classes 1st to 9th will be jointly taken up by the LAHDCs of Leh and Kargil with the UT Administration Ladakh. He said that relaxations in terms of resumption of religious gatherings would be taken in a phased manner subject to the ground situation which unfolds in the days to come.
CMO Kargil Dr Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, EC Health Muhammad Ali Chandan and District Magistrate Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary also spoke during the meeting.
