SRINAGAR, July 3: Former Finance Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and Congress Working Committee (CWC) member, Tariq Hamid Karra (Ex-MP), expressed a great joy over the Parliamentary speech of Leader of Opposition (LOP) Rahul Gandhi, framing it as the rise of the Gandhi.
Karra said, “The aspirational class in India who have felt voiceless during the BJP regime were enthused by the sincere representation of their genuine issues and struggles by Rahul Gandhi. Moreover, by that speech, he has reinvented the spirit among underrepresented people, who have for long felt disenfranchised, disempowered and excluded.”
“Interestingly, people of Jammu and Kashmir see a ray of hope in Rahul Gandhi, as they feel that the Rahul Gandhi has bravely defended the minorities in a time their voice was choked, and their rights were snatched. As last time, when there was no big leader who talked about issues regarding Kashmir, Rahul Gandhi came to Kashmir to talk to common people,” he added.
Karra said the Kashmiris came out in droves to see him, to appreciate him, so that they can show affection and solidarity towards the leader who they see can bring them out of the socio-economic and political plight. Even in his speech on Presidential address he forcefully advocated grant of Statehood before holding Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
“We have been getting amplified response from the people of Kashmir after Rahul Gandhi’s iconic Bharat Jodo Yatra and his demand in the State has surprisingly increased million times. This is the first time in the history of Kashmir when people of the valley have connected with a National leader more than any Regional leaders,” Karra added.
