SRINAGAR, Oct 29: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) chief, Tariq Hameed Karra has reaffirmed his commitment to wage struggle for the restoration of full statehood to JKUT.
While continuing his public outreach program on the second day of his visit to the Central Shalteng Assembly constituency, including Abban Shah HMT, Zainakote, Lawaypora, Shalteng, Maloora, and surrounding areas, JKPCC chief assured the people to ensure restoration of Statehood to the Jammu and Kashmir.
Accompanied by JKPCC vice president Nissar Ahmad Mandoo, Karra expressed deep gratitude to voters and supporters as he listened attentively to their aspirations, concerns, and the pressing needs of the community. The interaction focused on the restoration of full Statehood for Jammu and Kashmir as the foundation of empowered governance and responsive administration.
Responding to questions about the importance of full Statehood, Karra highlighted its urgency. “Statehood is not just a symbolic demand; it’s the foundation for responsive and empowered governance,” he emphasized.
“Without full Statehood, decision-making powers remain restricted, limiting our capacity to address pressing issues such as unemployment, development, business, education, and healthcare reforms,” he added.
Karra elaborated on the key benefits of full Statehood for the welfare and progress of Jammu and Kashmir, touching on strengthened governance and said full Statehood would enable the local Government to make impactful and swift decisions that directly address citizens’ needs. Full Statehood is vital for job creation and economic resilience and it will empower the local government to generate local employment in government and public sectors, addressing youth unemployment and creating avenues for dignified jobs in both established and emerging industries.
He also referred to empowering education and health sectors, cultural and regional integrity besides accountability of officers and employees, and said restoring Statehood would ensure direct accountability of government officers and employees of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Our Prime Minister, Home Minister, and the Central Government have made repeated promises of Statehood restoration on the floor of Parliament, in public rallies, and especially during election campaigns. It’s time to move beyond promises and fulfill these commitments through decisive action,” he added.
As a representative of Jammu and Kashmir, Karra pledged to tirelessly pursue the goal of full Statehood, emphasizing an inclusive approach to governance, employment generation, and community welfare.
