Cong remembers Pt Trilochan Dutt

JAMMU, Jan 5: A function was held at PCC headquarters Shaheedi Chowk, Jammu today to remember the tallest leader of the party in Jammu Pt Trilochan Dutt on his death anniversary, today.

JKPCC president Tariq Hameed Karra presided over the function to pay rich tribute to Pt Trilochan Dutt, a veteran leader of the party who was the tallest leader of Congress of his times in Jammu, who played an important role in Jammu & Kashmir.
Several prominent leaders of the party attended the function and paid floral tribute to the great leader and remembered his contributions to the society.
Working president Raman Bhalla, ex-MP Ch Lal Singh, Ravinder Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney, Ved Mahajan, Ghulam Haider Sheikh, Haji Abdul Rashid-MLA, Surinder Singh Channi, Indu Pawar, Nisaar Mandoo, Naresh Gupta, Yash Paul Kundal, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Shah Mohammad Choudhary, Rajnish Sharma, Th Manmohan Singh, Shashi Sharma, Narinder Sharma, TS.Tony, Bhushan Dogra, Suresh Dogra, Zahida Khan, Dr Ramakant Khajuria, Rajiv Saraf, Sanjeev Panda and others attended the function.
Paying rich tribute JKPCC Chief Tariq Hameed Karra described him the tallest leader of his time who rubbed shoulder with Mahatma Gandhi, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru and Khan Abdul Gaffar Khan prior to 1947. He was a co-founder of the Congress party in Jammu and Kashsmir alongwith GM Sadiq, Mir Qasim, Mohd Shafi Qureshi and other such great leaders of his time. He recalled the contributions of Pandit Ji for the party and people.
Karra said that Congress has launched a mission to go to the roots and remember of all those leaders of the party who have played their role in life for the party in the past. He said it was one of the recommendations of the fact finding committee constituted by the party to suggest strengthening of Congress party in Jammu and Kashmir.
PCC chief said that those who played historical role in the history should be remembered for educating future generations to know about the history of Congress party in the country in strengthening the unity in diversity.
Meanwhile, Karra held an important meeting today with senior party colleagues to discuss the current political situation and the important issues faced by the people, especially in Jammu region apart from the organizational affairs and the AICC Nationwide Abhiyaan “Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan” launched by the party.
The meeting discussed various issues faced by the people of cross sections especially the role of Congress party to highlight and fight for those issues. The various issues which came up for discussion include restoration of Statehood, Darbar move, issues of youth-record unemployment-fastrack recruitments, issues of daily wagers need based, contractual, adhoc, etc, power tariff-amnesty, heavy taxations-toll tax, Mining sector, Jammu-Poonch railway line, implementation of left out provisions of 73rd and 74th Amendments, Issues of farmers, women empowerment, reservations, Lambardars/ Chowkidars, issues of PoJK/ West Pak refugees, Kashmiri migrants, Property Tax etc.
The meeting also decided to hold a peaceful Padyatra on January 18, 2025 at 11:30 am as part of Nationwide Abhiyan of the party “Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan”. The yatra will start from Gandhi Chowk at Satwari to Dr Ambedkar Chowk Panama crossing form 11:30 am onwards to highlight the agenda and most important issues.
