Karvan-e-Aman bus leaves for POK

SRINAGAR: The Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK), left here on Monday to cross over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) at Uri, about 100 km from here in north Kashmir district of Baramulla, official sources said.
The bus with 25 passengers, including six residents of Kashmir, left Bemina region for Uri, sources said.
The cross-LoC bus has since reached Trade Facilitation Centre (TFC), Uri, they said adding more passengers will board it there, before leaving for Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC.
The exact number of passengers travelling to POK will be known only in the afternoon, and the passengers travelling from POK to Kashmir in the evening. The bus was not affected despite strained relations between two neighbours because of frequent ceasefire violation by Pak troops, particularly in Jammu region and Tangdhar last week.
The bus, which was introduced on April 7, 2005 to help residents from both sides of the LoC on Travel Permits instead of International Passports, has helped thousands of families, divided in 1947 to meet each other.
However, travel permit to state subjects from both sides are issued only after their names were cleared by the intelligence agencies from both the countries. (AGENCIES)
