JAMMU, June 25: Gandhi Nagar police under ‘Operation Sanjeevani’ nabbed two Kashmir based smuggler along with 100 grams of heroin valuing Rs 10 lakh.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Gandhi Nagar Police Station laid a naka at Chattri Chowk and asked two pedestrian to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops approaching towards them, the pedestrians escaped in a by lane. Stinking something fishy, the cops caught hold of the pedestrians after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 100 grams of heroin valuing Rs 10 lakh from the possession of the pedestrians and arrested them.
The accused have been identified as Adeel Aman, son of Amaan Ullah and Showket Ahmed, son of Hafiz Ullah Khan, both residents of Village Trikanjan, Tehsil Bonyar, District Baramulla, Kashmir.
During questioning, the accused revealed that they had brought the consignment from Kashmir for selling to their associates in Jammu and surrounding areas.
With their arrest, the police not only saved the youth from becoming drug addicts, but also saved their families from daily quarrels as it is understood that a drug addict create nuisance in family and society in general.
A case under FIR Number 142/18 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Gandhi Nagar Police Station and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment and other persons indulged in this illegal trade practice.
Police team led by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia and assisted by Incharge Nehru Market Police Post SI Sandeep Charak and SI Sandeep Kumar made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas, SP South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
