JAMMU, May 4: Scripting convincing wins over their respective rivals today, Kashmir Cricket Club and Sree Cricket Club entered quarterfinals to join other five teams which have already made it to the last eight stage in the ongoing 4th Ashok Sodhi Memorial T20 Tournament, being organized by Print and Electronic Cameramen Association, Jammu at Parade ground, here.
In the first match played today, Kashmir Cricket Club thrashed Shashi Pac Cricket Club by 8 wickets in a one-sided contest. Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Shashi Pac Club scored a paltry total of 107 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process. Sonu played a superb innings of 50 runs with the help of 6 boundaries and one six, while Amanpreet and Vishwajeet contributed 13 and 10 runs to the total respectively. Leg spinner Tarun was the chief wrecker for Kashmir Club, who scalped 3 wickets in his 4 overs by conceding 27 runs, while Amandeep, Satish and Rahul Mussa claimed 2 wickets each and skipper Kuldeep took one wicket.
Riding on splendid batting by Shahbaz and Amrit Pal Singh, Kashmir Club chased the target in 14.5 overs by losing 2 wickets, and won the match easily by 8 wickets. Shahbaz played a power-packed innings of 48 runs in just 20 balls, hitting 6 fours and 2 sixes, while Amrit Pal played a useful knock of unbeaten 25 runs with 2 boundaries. Zeeshan Akram also contributed 17 runs to the total. Shahbaz of Kashmir Cricket Club was declared man of the match for brilliant batting show.
In another match, Sree Club defeated Patel Cricket Club by 29 runs to enter quarterfinals.
Batting first, Sree Club scored a decent total of 150 runs in the stipulated 20 overs with Sahil and Deepak Dogra contributing 43 and 29 runs to the total respectively. Ashok also chipped in 21 runs. Varinder took 2 wickets, while Anchal, Balbir and Madan claimed one wicket apiece.
Patel Club in reply made 121 runs in 20 overs to lose the match by 29 runs. Sunny Choudhary was the top scorer with 27 runs, while Shiva, Madan and Deepak contributed 17, 13 and 11 runs to the total respectively. For Sree Club, Varun took 2 wickets, while Deepak Dogra, Qadir, Sahil and Arif claimed one wicket each. Sahil of Sree Club was adjudged man of the match for his all-round show.
The matches were officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik, Sham Singh Langeh, Vijay Kumar, Sanjay Pradhan and Ajay Sharma.
