Kashmir under grip of cold wave, temp to plummet

SRINAGAR, Dec 15: Kashmir is under grip of cold wave conditions with night temperatures dipping further below zero making people of the Valley to shiver and Meteorological Department has forecast further dip in temperature in next 4 days.
A MET official said Srinagar recorded minimum temperature of minus 2.4 degree Celsius as temperature further dropped one degree as compared to yesterday’s minimum temperature of minus 1.2 degree Celsius.
Pahalgam, in South Kashmir recorded a drop of nearly four degrees in the minimum  temperature which settled at minus 4.4 degree Celsius as against yesterday’s minus 0.8 degree Celsius.
The ski resort of Gulmarg in North Kashmir recorded a low of minus 5.4 degree Celsius, down from the previous night’s minus 4.7 degree Celsius.
The minimum temperature recorded in North Kashmir’s  Kupwara town was minus 3.4 degree Celsius as against yesterday’s minus 2.4, while Kokernag in South Kashmir recorded a minimum of minus 1.9 degree Celsius as against minus 0.8 the previous night.
Leh in Ladakh was the coldest place in the State with minimum temperature recorded at minus 9.2 degree Celsius as against previous  night’s minus 7.2 degree Celsius.
The night temperature in Kargil, in Ladakh region, also recorded a dip of nearly two degree to settle at minus 6.2 degree Celsius.
The Meteorological Department predicted light rain or snow at  isolated places in the State during the next 24 hours and  further fall in night temperature during the next four days.
