Kashmir highway through for one-way traffic

SRINAGAR :  The National Highway connecting the Kashmir valley with the rest of the country was through for one-way and traffic will ply from Srinagar to Jammu today.    However, no vehicle will be allowed from any part of the Jammu region to Kashmir valley, a traffic police official said here.
He said a landslide near Sheerbibi that left two people dead and an equal injured after their vehicle fell into river yesterday afternoon, has been cleared by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
“We have allowed vehicles, including those carrying passengers and empty truck and oil tankers from Kashmir to Jammu this morning,” he said.
Meanwhile, the National Highway, linking the Ladakh region with the Kashmir valley, remained closed since December last year.
The Mughal road, connecting south Kashmir with Jammu  region also remained closed due to snow and slippery road conditions.    A number of roads to far-flung and remote villages,  including those near the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir also remained closed due to snow.
