JAMMU, May 12: Rehana Akhter, a Nurse working at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Srinagar received President’s National Florence Nightingale Award 2012 from President Pratibha Devisingh Patil for her outstanding contribution in nursing research, stoma therapy and critical care in New Delhi.
The award comprised Rs 50,000 cash, a medal and certificate of merit.
Rehana had also received Bharat Excellence Award-2011 from India Friendship Society, New Delhi for her distinguished services. Last year, she had received Award of Excellence at SKIMS for her outstanding patient care services and nursing research.
Rehana Akhter has done Diploma in Stoma Therapy, World Council of Enterostoma Therapists, WCET Education Committee and is Life Member World Council of Enterostomal Therapists, an Association for Nurses involved in Ostomy, wound and continence care.
She had presented research papers in several national and state level scientific conferences. She secured first position in Seminar on Nursing care in the 21st. Century: challenges and response and also first position in Symposium on Quality Nursing care in the New Millennium.
She has more than 20 publications to her credit.
