“I am witnessing elections for last more than 27 years now and I have not seen anyone being loyal to people. They get our votes and after that, we don’t see them; everyone has failed us. The representatives that we used to choose never cared for the people who voted for them.
We had decided to boycott the polls-the entire area had-but then we thought why not to give a chance to the new faces and let us see how different are they going to perform. We are hopeful that the new faces will be able to deliver this time and put an end to our miseries”, he said.
A young voter Bashir Ahmad at Drugmulla’s Dedikoot village in district Kupwara said that for them the main issue is of Article 370. “We are voting for the alliance candidate; people want that the 370 and 35-A should be restored and that’s the reason that people have come out to cast their votes today. Today’s election is that of the ground level-there are educated youth who are participating, unlike panchayat where the majority of the candidates were uneducated. These new faces know what to do”, he said.
He said that the majority of the people are voting for an independent candidate to give him a chance. “The PAGD should have taken a decision from the ground level while choosing the candidates for this area, but they decided on their own and gave a ticket to someone who has been participating in the elections and has done nothing. Due to that reason, people are not satisfied with them and are voting for independent candidates as well”, he said.

However, at the same time, the authorities must keep a check on such violations”, she said.
