Srinagar, Dec 13: Amid the forecast of cold and dry weather conditions for the next four days, the night temperatures across the region dropped today with Sonamarg recording the season’s lowest temperature of minus 12.5 degree Celsius.

Sonamarg has recorded a low of minus 12.5 degree Celsius while Gulmarg, a famous ski- registered a minimum temperature of minus 9.6 degree Celsius.
In Srinagar, the mercury plummeted and settled at minus 2.0 degree Celsius. Pahalgam, a famous tourist destination, recorded a low of minus 9.4 degree Celsius.
Qazigund, a gateway of Kashmir has recorded a low of minus 1.4 degree Celsius while in Kupwara, the mercury settled at 2.5 degree Celsius.
Zojila has, however, witnessed the coldest night of the season at minus 23.0 degree Celsius.
The night temperature has plummeted at maximum places following the fresh snowfall in higher reaches as well as in some of the plains of the Valley during the last two days.
Meanwhile, the Weatherman here has predicted no wet spell till December 21.
Director MeT, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad said that the weather would remain dry for the next 24 hours while on December 15, there is a forecast of cloudy weather conditions.
On December 16 & 17, the weather would remain generally while from December 18-20th, the cloudy weather is expected in Jammu and Kashmir.
“In view of fresh snowfall, sub-freezing temperature & icy conditions over roads of important passes and higher reaches, the tourists, travelers and transporters are advised to follow administration and traffic advisory,” read a MeT advisory.
