Srinagar, June 10: Singer Richa Sharma who is these days in the Kashmir Valley shooting for a Sufi song today said that the place suits the genre of her music.
“I mostly sing Sufi songs and Kashmir is a place of saints and Sufism. I believe that my genre of music suits this place unlike other genres,” Richa said.
The 46-year-old singer said that she has an old connection with the valley which started 20 years ago.
“The last time I visited here was in 2000 to launch the DD Kashir TV channel but since then I didn’t get a chance to visit. I have been wishing to visit here for a long time but thanks to my brother and music composer Jaan Nissar Lone who gave me this opportunity,” she said
Richa’s statement was issued here by A R Music Studios which organized the shoot of the singer in the Valley.
Explaining further on her Kashmir connection, she said: “When I was just 13-year-old when I met a Kashmiri brother who used to treat me like her own sister and gave me Kashmiri shawls. It was like a family relationship with them. Later, they went somewhere and we couldn’t know their whereabouts till date.”
Richa said that she has become addicted to the place and is impressed by the beauty and hospitality of Kashmir.
“I don’t why people need to go for intoxication when we have a place like Kashmir on the earth; I am impressed by its beauty, hospitality and food,” Richa, who is popular for songs like Billo Rani, Sajda and Zor Ka Jhatka said.
The singer said that they are following the Covid SOPs during their shooting and stay in Kashmir “We have only 4-5 people on the set and everyone is maintaining the social distance and in fact, all of us have been tested for Covid,” she said.
Notably, the song titled ‘Mere Ali Maula Ali’ is being produced by Mumbai based music company A R Music Studios. The star cast includes Atif Malik, Raah Nissar Lone and Anjum Mir. The song has been composed by Kashmiri musician Jaan Nissar Lone and penned by Nitishwar Kumar.
“This is a Sufi song which will promote the art and culture of Kashmir,” Jaan Nissar who is also the managing director of A R Music Studios said.
