Kashmiri/Dogri dances, Sufiana music concert held at ICCR’s ‘Horizon Series’

JAMMU, May 29: Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Regional Office, Jammu today hosted Kashmiri/Dogri dances and Sufiana Sangeet programme under its “Horizon Series”.
The programme was organized in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in the auditorium of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology, RS Pura, Jammu.
N K Shil, Regional Director, Indian Council for Cultural Relations and Regional Passport Officer, Jammu and Dr K S Risam, VC SKUAST Jammu graced the occasion as chief guest.
Well-known group of artists from Nav Durga Kala Manch was invited for exclusive performance. The programme began with lighting of lamp by Regional Director ICCR & Passport Officer and other dignitaries present there.
In his welcome address, N K Shil gave a brief account of various activities so far conducted by the ICCR and also about its prime objective as to how ICCR”s cultural wing of Ministry of External Affairs seeks to improve and argument India”s cultural diplomacy through cultural and educational initiatives showcasing greater Indian rich heritage and multifarious culture with mantra “VasudhaivaKutumbakam” &”Atithi Deva Bhava”.
Shil summarized the past various achievements at the credit of ICCR and shared the efforts afoot to plan and lay down productive future road map for this great institution. While recapping his gritty endeavour to give fillip to the local artists, performers, theatrists and literary fraternity to come forward and share their video clips pertaining to their art,culture and languages for appropriate examination and providing opportunity for display of their talent in the country or even abroad if found fit for empanelment.
The Kashmiri folk song played by Sushmita Banerji was “Khulli Rah bich Pai”. The artists who performed were Rajiv in Dholak and Sohu on Tabla.
Reena Slathia, Cultural Officer, ICCR Regional office Jammu presented vote of thanks while the programme was anchored by Pankaj Sharma.
