Kashmiri Hindus delegation calls on HM, submits memorandum

JAMMU, Oct 25: A delegation of Kashmiri Hindu community including Kashmiri Pandits called on Union Home Minister, Amit Shah here, yesterday and submitted a memorandum to him highlighting the demands of the displaced Pandits.
The delegation expressed its grave concern that repeated impediments are being created in ensuring durable, dignified and secure return of Pandits to Valley. The latest spree of targeted killings has dealt a serious blow to the aspirations and poise of the community. The delegation demanded that the Government should take the steps including a dialogue with the community leadership to induce confidence among the displaced Pandits from the Valley and convince it about the significance of the Government efforts.
The delegation comprised of K K Khosa, president, K P Sabha, Vijay Bakaya, former Chief Secretary and Ex MLC, A K Raina, vice president, AIKS, G L Raina, Ex MLC, Chand Ji Bhat, president KDD BJP, R K Bhat, president YAIKS and ASHOK Dhar, president TRT Buta Nagar.
It demanded that employees appointed under PM package and those under SC quota be posted at district headquarters or near towns instead of far flung areas, safe , secure and suitable residential accommodation be provided to employees of minority community recruited under PM package or other quota, employees of minority community living in rented accommodations be shifted to Government quarters, PM package employees be treated at par with other employees of the J&K, a comprehensive affordable and reassuring insurance scheme for these employees be provided as a compensatory safety measure, non migrant Hindu families in Kashmir be provided security, Distress Sale under JK Migrant Property Act 1997 be defined comprehensively and village heads and departmental heads be involved in periodic monitoring system of security in their areas.
The delegation further demanded security of shrines and temples be ensured legally and by installing security posts of Central forces around them, pace of construction of transit accommodations for the employees appointed under PM package be accelerated and ensuring benefit of welfare schemes of GoI to displaced people from Valley.
The delegation also demanded constitution of Advisory Council/ Welfare Board of Kashmiri Hindus under MHA, political empowerment to the community by ensuring proper representation to it in elected foras, instituting a Task Force to supervise execution of construction of transit accommodations, extension of the benefits of welfare schemes and clearance of encroachments from immovable property and monitoring team for repair, reconstruction, redevelopment of temples and shrines besides, designation of a senior person from administration as Liaison Officer for the community.
