Kashmiri Khatri Hindu Maha Sabha discusses issues with CEO J&K

JAMMU, Feb 23: A delegation of Kashmiri Migrants led by Chairman and President of Kashmiri Khatri Hindu Maha Sabha Er Ramesh Chander Mahajan met Hirdesh Kumar, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) J&K.
The delegation submitted a memorandum of demands to CEO J&K.
While speaking, Mahajan said that there is a lot of resentment amongst the seven lakh Kashmiri Hindu migrants as no member of their community had been considered in Council of Ministers since Independence. “We are facing discrimination and injustices in the field of political reservation”, he added.
He urged CEO J&K that with the initiative of delimitation process to confer political reservation of seven MLAs seats in Assembly constituencies/segments in the Union Territory of J&K Assembly, four seats in Legislative Council should be reserved for migrants once for all, one seat each in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha and 25 seats in DDC. Besides Kashmiri Hindus should be declared as internally displaced people, Mahajan stated.
He demanded simplification of election process with removal of all deficiencies in the updated electoral rolls of migrant voters/lists, issuances of EPICs and electoral rolls details of elections must be translated from Urdu to English.
He also demanded abolition of all kinds of M, MMPB, PMPB and DMPB forms to ensure the 100 per cent maximum participation of migrants in the next coming elections at their nearest places or areas of Jammu, Udhampur, New Delhi and other place of country to elect their representative (MLAs and MPs) in the democratic process.
The migrants appealed to the CEO J&K to adopted a holistic approach to tackle the problems being faced by the displaced Kashmiri people.
The Chief Electoral Officer J&K gave patient hearing to the demands and assured appropriate action.
