Kashmiri migrants denied ration for last 3 months

JAMMU, Oct 19: Resentment is brewing among the Kashmiri migrants who have been deprived of ration for last three months with various KP organisations warning to come to streets in protest against the government.
Various KP organisations today openly warned to come to streets in protest against the denial of ration for last three months in camp as well as non camp localities to the relief holders.
This problem surfaced for the first time this year said Inder Ji Labroo a camp inmate and president  Samajwadi Party Migrant Cell. “We have been for the first time in last 27 years of turmoil denied ration for months together this year. Earlier the ration for the month of February, March and April was not given to migrants and later we were told that cash will be given in lieu of that but the same was not also paid till date’’, he added.
Later the ration for the months of August, September and October was not released to us with the result those families who are totally dependent on cash doles from government are at the verge of starvation, he said.
Supporting him Vijay Kaul and Vinod Tickoo of Jagti TRT said that the problem surfaced after the coalition government took over and deliberate attempts are being made by the authorities to deprive the migrants of ration and relief.
They said that in Jagti there are acute problems as no attention is paid to install street lights and provide fans from lane 1to 29.
Criticizing the government, NC Minority Cell Chairman and Ex MLC, Bushan Lal Bhat warned agitation. He said the BJP which was claiming to be savior of KPs has now deprived them of ration also.
Supporting him Rakesh Kaul of Sampooran Kashmiri Sanghtan said that in case the problem continues further the Pandits will be forced to launch agitation.
Meanwhile the LJP youth president, Sanjay Saraf  called on Director  Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Jammu and Relief Commissioner YP Suman and urged them to take immediate steps in releasing the ration of Kashmiri migrants and defuse the crisis.
Saraf while discussing the issue with Relief Commissioner urged him to evolve a mechanism so that the problem is solved at an earliest and crisis created due to non disbursement of ration for last three months are averted.
He also appealed the Minister of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Ch. Zulfkar seeking his immediate intervention in the matter.
