LUCKNOW, June 26: There is deep displeasure over the non-inclusion of Kashmiri Pandits in the meeting called by the Central Government in Delhi on June 24 on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. From the scholars of Kashmir issue to the officials related to Panun Kashmir, they are expressing their displeasure towards the Delhi meeting.
Dr. Ajay Dutt Sharma, who has a deep knowledge of Kashmir affairs, said that by inviting hardcore Muslim leaders of the Valley to the all-party meeting, the Modi Government has pronounced to follow the ‘Kashmir appeasement policy’. 24 hours ago the so called Kashmiriyat won and as usual Indian’ness and Hindustani dreams were shattered. The pro-Pakistani elements were invited for talks and the descendants of Meher Singh’s penance, were not considered fit to sit on the table.
“Whole nation was waiting that the pain and the sufferings of Kashmiri Pandits would be heard first, the work of their rehabilitation would be on priority, but it was also not that. The priority of the Modi Government was to invite radical Islamic elements, pro-Pakistan and pro-China agents in the meeting,” he added.
Dr Sharma said that no political party understands the real pain of Kashmiri Pandits. Had it been understood, even after 32 years, Kashmiri Pandits would not have been displaced. Kashmir-centric political parties do not represent Kashmiri Pandits. Kashmiri Pandits are capable of expressing themselves and the government should have made Kashmiri Pandits a part of the all-party meeting. “None of the parties present in the Delhi meeting took the side of Kashmiri Pandits. The entire Jammu division was ignored in the Delhi meeting. This is injustice to the Dogras and the Hindus. The Modi Government discussed the future of Jammu and Kashmir with the same Islamists of Kashmir who have never been with this country”, Dr. Ajay Dutt Sharma said.
Ravi Kachru, secretary, Panun Kashmir, Lucknow said, ‘As the original inhabitants of Kashmir with a history dating back 5,000 years, we consider ourselves to be one of the major partners of the Valley. PM Modi knows very well that nothing has happened so far on the issue of our genocide. As citizens of India and residents of Kashmir, we would like Kashmiri Pandits to be a part of the new political initiative being launched for the motherland. We want to use this right of ours. Kashmiri Pandits must be given a strong political representation in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. The Central Government should give reservation of seats in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly for the Kashmiri Pandits after the delimitation process, Kachru said.
He expressed his disappointment over not being invited to the Delhi meeting and said that Panun Kashmir is a prominent organization of Kashmiri Pandits, so, by not inviting us, the whole community of Kashmiri Pandit felt humiliated and ignored by the Modi government.
Deepak Kachru, spokesperson of Panun Kashmir, UP, said that Panun Kashmir supported the Centre’s move to abolish the Article 370 and the creation of two Union Territories, but it is not a complete action. Kashmiri Pandits are natives and they have suffered maximum terrorist violence in Kashmir and hence we should have known the agenda of the all-party meeting. He said that keeping away Kashmiri Pandits from the meeting, it has been said that delimitation will be agreed as per Census-2011 for elections, this is ironical and is not at all acceptable. People of J & K do not agree with the census-2011 as it was completely inaccurate.
The Delhi meeting under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has got no meaning, because the meeting was called to discuss and to find out the way to democratize & normalize Jammu & Kashmir and to conduct free and fair elections there, but isn’t it strange to ask terrorists and anti nationals to do so? This was ironic and ridiculous on the part of the Modi Government to keep Kashmiri Pandits away from the meeting.
Deepak also said that the UP unit of Panun Kashmir will launch a massive campaign in Uttar Pradesh against the disregard of Kashmiri Pandits by the Modi Government.
