JAMMU, Jan 30: A delegation of Kashmiri Samiti Delhi led by its president, Sumeer Chrungoo and vice president, Sanjay Kaul met MoS Home, Nityanand Rai, in New Delhi and discussed the pressing concerns of Kashmiri Pandit (KP) community.
The delegation claimed that monetary support to the community members has been stopped by Delhi Revenue Department from April 2024. The Minister assured that every effort will be made to address the issue after Delhi elections.
Commitment by PM Modi regarding enhancement of relief amount was also brought up before the MoS.
The delegation highlighted the widespread issue of illegal encroachments and forced sales of KPs’ properties, executed through Power of Attorney and distress sale deeds. The Minister assured that these cases would be reviewed by the J&K UT Government and encouraged Kashmiri Samiti Delhi to compile and submit detailed data on such properties.
Return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits was among other demands.
The delegation demanded that passage of Genocide Bill in Parliament and formation of a Special Investigation Team to bring perpetrators of the genocide to justice.
The Minister assured that all concerns raised would be addressed in a time-bound manner.
