Srinagar, Oct 26: Kashmiri singer Shuja Gowhar made his debut on ‘Indian Idol Season 15’, which premiered tonight on Sony Entertainment Television.
He has quickly emerged as one of the most promising contestants, poised to captivate audiences with his impressive audition.
This season features a panel of judges including Badshah, Shreya Ghoshal, and Vishal Dadlani, all on the lookout for exceptional talent with unique voices.
Shuja opened his audition with a rendition of “Fitoor,” but unfortunately, he didn’t manage to impress the judges.
After his performance, Vishal expressed disappointment, stating, “I’ll be honest. You might be invested in your love story, but we are not. You’re not ready for the show yet, though you have potential. You can be ready in a few years.”
Despite the initial critique, Vishal acknowledged Shuja’s talent, after he sang “Musk Eli”. “If you could do this, then why were you performing like that? You flipped my decision, and I’m not liking it. When I make a decision, I don’t go back, but your performance left me no choice. You deserve to be on the Indian Idol stage. You have a beautiful voice, brother,” he told Shuja.
Vishal then thanked his fellow judges for allowing Shuja to sing another song, which significantly influenced his decision.
Badshah’s intuition proved correct when he gave Shuja a second chance. Shuja’s electrifying comeback performance dispelled Vishal’s doubts and validated Badshah’s instincts, transforming a potential setback into a breakthrough moment.
During his audition, Shuja expressed a heartfelt request to the judges: if he were to be rejected, he asked them not to air his audition, explaining that he didn’t want his story of failure to go public.
In a personal moment, Shuja shared, “Nine years ago, I met a girl, and we began talking. After a couple of years, we entered a relationship, but everything changed when her parents discovered it. They were quite strict and even took her phone away. I moved to Chandigarh, only to learn later that she lived close by, yet we never crossed paths again. I believe that everything I create in music ties back to her. This performance is dedicated to her.”
