Kashyap Jagriti Manch demands 27% reservation

JAMMU, June 9: Kashyap Jagriti Manch (OBC) urged the Government to provide 27 per cent reservation to socially and educationally backward classes on the basis of caste as recommended by the Mandal commission.
A meeting of J&K Kashyap Jagriti Manch (OBC) was held under the chairmanship of its president Pawan Kumar Manni and discussed various policies for the upliftment of the backward classes.
During the meeting, the participants flayed the Government for not providing reservation to the backward classes and also for not redressing their other demands.
They demanded change in the nomenclature of OSC to backward classes in the certificate being issued under SRO 294, exclude reservation of backward areas and areas adjoining actual Line of Control by affecting amendment in the Reservation Act 2004, provide one certificate for OSC for State and Central Government services, enhance the income scale upto Rs 7 lakh for creamy layer and simplify the procedure and process for issuance of other social caste certificate.
They warned the Government that if their demands were not meted out at the earliest, then they will launch a crusade against it and for any untoward incident the Government will be responsible.
Among others present were Brij Mehra, Banarsi Lal Mehra, Sain Dass Kashyap, Kavi Raj Tak, Ravi Kumar Dogra, Ashok Mehra, Chand Dogra, etc.
