Kathua, Sept 25: Taking cognizance of repeated complaints regarding exorbitant rates being charged by few stone crusher units in Kathua, the district administration today fixed rates of aggregated crushed material, sand etc.
The rates fixed were ceiling rates at source and any crusher unit found charging more than the ceiling price shall be penalized under relevant laws, Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Raghav Langer, said while chairing a meeting in this regard. The SOR rates of PWD besides prevalent market rates were taken into account while fixing the rates.
SE Hydraulic Circle Kathua, Sudhir Sabharwal, Engineers from PMGSY, PWD, Irrigatation & Flood Control, DTO, AD FCS & CA, Assitant Controller, LMD, DMO along with some of the representative of crusher units attended the meeting.
The rates were finalized by the District Level Committee constituted by the DDC.
The DDC apprised that the notification to this effect regarding fixing of prices of aggregate material (crushed stone), sand and dust shall be issued separately and in case any crusher owner found overcharging shall be penalized under SRO 105, 302, Weight and Measure Act and other relevant sections of law.
DDC also revealed that the helpline numbers have also been notified by the District Administration where any customer, private consumer or Government contractor can lodge their complaint regarding disparity in rates.
