Kathua Campus organizes Extension & Outreach activity at Jagti Camp

JAMMU, Nov 5: The Management School, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, organized an Extension and Outreach/ CSR activity at Jagti Camp, Nagrota,  in association with Raj K Nehru, HR Professional, and Governing Council Member: Global Village Foundation and Director Board of Directors, Haryana State Electronics Corporation.
During the visit,  fifty students of MBA and MBA-IB programmes of Kathua Campus and ICccR & HRM in  JU, respectively interacted with the under privileged students and migrants at the Camp and had a round of the migrant colony and the Primary School there, to have a first hand experience of how the shift in socio economic conditions have impacted their present day life.
During the interaction,  Raj K Nehru narrated that these students have been living in tough conditions and the dropout rate has been escalating in the schools. The visiting Management students observed that the education domain needed focus and attention in this Camp.
Raj Nehru   conducted session for camp students, wherein many students exhibited their skills in various areas and spotted some of the societal issues and voids that can be filled by the academia.
Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Rector Kathua Campus and Director-ICccR & HRM, while interacting with the students, said that a focused research project study shall be undertaken by the students and faculty at Kathua Campus and the International Centre to understand the socio-economic, demographic and other cultural concerns of these people living in the Satellite Township, Jagti to take forward the agenda of their educational upliftment. The project shall serve the academic concerns besides addressing the extension, outreach component as a responsibility towards the society, she added.
Prof Rohmetra also assured to undertake periodic counseling sessions for students, especially at the primary level, living in the town as an initiative of Kathua Campus, University of Jammu.
The visit concluded with distribution of stationary items to the migrant students with the assurance of providing support to the needy students and counseling on various educational issues.
Dr  Vivek Sharma- Academic coordinator, Kathua Campus, Dr  Naresh Sharma,  Pankaj Khajuria, Vishal Sharma,  Isha Sharma and Dr  Amrinder Singh also accompanied the visiting students.
