KATHUA, Aug 9: Deepak Gupta an orchardist from Kathua has grown world famous Dragon fruit at his field, garnering attraction from locals and others.
“I had set up a dragon fruit farm last year’’, said Deepak. “The fruit is demanded by every one and it is very healthy and anti oxidant in nature’’, he added.
The growing of such farms by new generation farmers on the basis of modern technology can prove a boon for them as this will certainly help in the PM’s efforts to double the income of farmers and motivate the younger generation towards the setting up of such farms for employment generation, he said.
Deepak a progress farmer has also appealed the people of his generation to come forward in establishing the farms of dragon fruit and other type of high yielding variety of fruit which can certainly boost their income and prove a boon for the farming community also. He urged the Horticulture Department to launch the camps and workshops for educating progressive farmers on new technology and variety of fruit grown in the climatic conditions prevalent in Jammu region both in plains and higher reaches.
By establishing the dragon fruit farm, Deepak has set an example for his fellow farmers to follow.
