Kathua has potential to boost milk production: Col Mahan

KATHUA, Dec 29: A mega exhibition cum awareness camp was organised by the Animal Husbandry Department (AHD) Kathua in the complex of PWD Rest House Mahanpur today.
On the occasion, DDC Chairman, Kathua Col (retd) Mahan Singh) was the chief guest. Shubam Sharma, Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, CAHO Kathua, Raj Singh, BDC Chairman, Mahanpur, Sarpanches, PRI members, farmers, female and youth in large numbers were also present.
The Animal Husbandry Officer apprised participants about various different schemes of the Department for development of dairy and poultry sectors. The Department also exhibited animals of various varieties, fooders, medicines, tools etc during the camp.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC Chairman appreciated the efforts of Animal Husbandry Department in rendering its services across the district, especially applauded their contribution during an outbreak of lumpy disease. He urged the farmers to nurture hybrid animals and adopt modern methods of agriculture to doubling their income.
The DDC Chairman said district Kathua has exponential potential to boost milk production in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. The shortage of veterinary clinics in rural areas and that of Animal Husbandry staff was also highlighted and appealed to the Government to make up for the deficiency at the earliest.
