KATHUA, June 15: Expressing their concern over plight of industrialists and industry workers, Kathua Industrial Unit Association, today said the industry in the district is on the verge of closure.
Talking to reporters here along with his associates, president of the Association Ajit Bawa said the industrialists running their units in Kathua district of J&K UT are perturbed as industrialists and workers are waiting in Punjab for lifting of complete lockdown in Kathua to run the industry. Bawa alleged that on the one side Government is asking the industrialist to run the industry after relaxation of lockdown and on the other side, J&K Government is not giving permission to industry owners residing in Punjab to frequently entry the J&K to look after the industrial units.
He said more than one hundred industries are setup by outsider industrialists mostly belonging to Punjab. When the Government imposed strict restrictions on the entry of anyone in J&K from Lakhanpur without COVID-19 sampling and put him or her in administration quarantine under such circumstances how can they entre in J&K to look after the industry, he asked?. Even the trained industrial workers also belong to Punjab whose services are mostly needed in running the industry, he added.
Though the Government asking them to restart the units, they are helpless to restart the same as the owners and skilled workers were not allowed to enter in J&K. How banking , management and marketing would be managed while staying outside, he asked? . He said some industrialists also asked the Government to allow them to enter in their industry office twice a week for important task till the complete unlock is declared.
Bawa said that the industrialists are facing huge loss under such circumstances and payment of labour, interest of bank loan and other expenses are huge burden on industrialists.
He has appealed the LG, GC Murmu to allow the industrialists to entre twice in a week to restart the units, otherwise industrialist are forced to lockdown the units permanently.
