Kathua police arrests 2 bootleggers

KATHUA; Mar 14; In an act of alertness and prompt action Kathua police recovered 57 bottles of JK Special Whisky i.e three bottles JK Special Whisky 750ml each, 18 bottles 375 ml each and 36 Bottles 180 ml each (illicit liquor) and two Bootleggers were arrested in the JD of PS Lakhanpur in this connection.
Police said today information was received through a reliable source at PS Lakhanpur that few persons were involved in sale and purchase of illicit liquor in the jurisdiction of PS Lakhanpur. Acting swiftly police team led by SHO PS Lakhanpur under the guidance of DySP, DAR Kathua during special checking/ patrolling noticed two suspicious persons who were doing the trade of selling illicit liquor to the people in order to gain illegitimate profit and enrouted under suspicious circumstances.
Police said during checking the police team apprehend two persons namely Dhyan Singh, son of Tej Ram of Rasooh tehsil and district Kathua and Vijay Sharma, son of Balak Ram of Hatli tehsil and district Kathua and recovered three Bottles of JK Special Whisky (750 ml each), 18 bottles of JK Special Whisky (375 ml each) and 36 bottles of JK Special Whisky (180 ml each) making a total of 57 bottles of illicit liquor(JK Special Whisky) from their illegal possession.
Police said all the recovered consignment of illicit liquor i. e 57 bottles of JK Special Whisky were seized and two persons were arrested on the spot. On this instant case vide FIR No. 25/2024 U/S 48(a)/ 48(f) Excise Act got registered at PS Lakhanpur and further investigation into this matter has been started.
