96 Corex bottles seized from medical shop

KATHUA, May 10: Three persons were arrested by Police Station (PS), Lakhanpur headed by SHO, Inspector, Sumit Sharma during special naka checking by PSI, Swaran Singh and PSI Mohammad Yousuf, allegedly transporting liquor in Baleno car bearing registration Number JK02CD-8563 amid the lockdown.
The accused have been identified as Ankush Dutta son of Late Vinod Dutta of Bakshi Nagar Jammu (driver of car), Surjeet Kumar son of Bishan Dass of Bamial tehsil and district Pathankot and Sumeet Bali son of Yashpal Bali of Bakshi Nagar Jammu. On the checking of car four boxes of Imperial Blue and 01 box of Royal Challange Punjab Excise Whisky (each box containing 12 bottles, making a total of 60 bottles) has been seized. In this regard a case FIR No. 65/2021 U/S 50 Excise Act, 188/269/270 IPC has been registered at the Lakhanpur Police Station.
Meanwhile a team of Anti Drug Unit Kathua, while on surprise naka checking duty at Kathua, apprehended one person namely Gurnam alias Katta son of Bui Lal of Chak Drab Khan, district Kathua.
During his frisking police team recovered 10grams of Heroin like contraband from his illegal possession.
A case FIR No. 233/2021 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act stands registered in Kathua Police Station against him and further investigation is underway.
Kathua Police under the overall supervision of SSP, R C Kotwal, today recovered 96 Corex Syrup like contraband along with Illicit liquor in the jurisdiction of PS Kathua and arrested three drug peddlers.
Police said today a team of PS Kathua conducted a raid at Krishna Medical Shop, Kalibari and apprehended one person namely Deepak Sudan, son of Sudershan Kumar of Ward No. 16, Shivanagar Kathua.
During checking, 96 Maharex Corex Syrup (Codeine Phosphate) bottles, which he had concealed in his shop were recovered from his illegal possession. The person was later on arrested by the police party on spot and contraband was seized. In this connection, a case under NDPS Act was registered against him.
Another team of PS Kathua apprehended two suspected persons namely Dinesh Kumar, son of Kewal Kishore of Taloor, tehsil and district, Pathankot and his accomplice namely Deepak Sharma, son of Ram Tirath Sharma of Ward No. 09 Kathua.
On physical search, 10 bottles of MC Dowell’s Whisky along with 12 bottles of Jugni Whisky of 750 ml each were recovered from their illegal possession.
The liquor was seized and both of the accused were arrested on spot and case registered against them under Excise Act.
