Kathua police arrests notorious criminal, 2 drug peddlers

KATHUA, Apr 12: District Police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal, today succeeded in arresting a notorious criminal in the jurisdiction of Police Post (PP) Chadwal who has more than half a dozen of FIRs in his name in different Police Stations of the district.
A police team of Police Post, Chadwal led by Incharge PP, SI Arun Slathia under the supervision of SDPO Border, Sachit Mahajan during routine patrolling in Chadwal pond area nabbed one person namely Kanwaljeet Singh alias Kabbu son of Amarjeet Singh of Jasrota district Kathua and from his possession one sharp edged weapon (Tokka) was recovered on his search.
In this regard, a case FIR No.45/21 US 4/25 Arms Act has been registered in PS Rajbagh and further investigation is going on.
Meanwhile, Kathua Police recovered Heroin like substance in the jurisdiction of Basohli Police Station (PS) and accused was arrested and the contraband seized on the spot.
Police said that a joint team of Police Check Post, Mahanpur along with the team of District Special Branch (DSB) during naka checking near Seeri Katta, Nowshera, Mahanpur, found two suspicious persons who were riding a bike bearing Registration No JK08K1156. The police stopped them for checking.
On physical search ,4.5grams of Heroin like contraband was recovered from their possession. They disclosed their name as Mohd. Shabir, son of Mohd. Hanif resident of Banhore, tehsil Mahanpur and Naresh Kumar, son of Dev Raj of Banhore tehsil, Mahanpur. Both were arrested and contraband was also seized.
A case FIR No. 2021 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act, stands registered at concerned Police Station and further investigation is under process.
