15 motorcycles seized, 5 arrested

KATHUA, June 13: Police achieved a major success after busting an inter-State bike lifter gang which was active in Kathua and Hiranagar areas. Police has recovered 15 stolen bikes, two scootys and six Bicycles from them.
While addressing media persons SSP Kathua, Shivdeep Singh said that after receiving many complaints of bike lifting from busy areas of Kathua district, a special team was put on job to nab the bike lifters active in Kathua area. The police team succeeds in arresting the kingpin identified as Pawan Sharma alias Bantu, son of Gian Chand residents of Ward No 17, Kathua and on his disclosure, police recovered 15 motorcycles, two scootys and six bicycles which were sold to unknown people. He said a case under FIR NO 252 /2023 under Section 379 IPC stands registered. In this case five thieves were arrested, out of which three were residents of Punjab.
He said further investigation is going on and more recovery could be possible.
