Kathua police foils bovine smuggling bid, 5 arrested

JAMMU, Nov 4: In continuation to drive launched by the District Police Kathua under the supervision of Pawan Parihar, SSP Kathua to nab the bovine smugglers  a police Party of P/S Lakhanpur led by Inspector. K.D. Bhagat, SHO P/S Lakhanpur laid down a naka at Ravi River bed and apprehended one person namely Lal Hussain S/o Kasim Din R/o Ranipur Tehsil Pathankot and his associate namely Saif Ali (Chunj) S/o Noor Ahmed R/o Maggar Khad late last night.
According to police they were carrying five bovine animals illegally from the State to Punjab on foot. Lal Hussain was arrested on spot whereas his associate on seeing the police party managed to escape from the spot. However, Saif Ali (Chunj) is a hardcore bovine smuggler who has been involved in a number of cases registered in different Police Stations of Jammu region. A case FIR No.82/2014 U/S 188 RPC stands registered at P/S Lakhanpur against the accused persons and investigation of case is going on, police added.
Police said another police party of P/S Kathua led by SHO P/S Kathua foiled the attempt of the bovine smugglers while they were loading the bovines in vehicle bearing registration No.PB 06/F 9550 and in the process one animal died and another was severely injured. Four accused persons namely  Narotam  (Bitta) S/o Som Raj, Rinku S/o Parshotam Kumar,  Goldy S/o Raj Kumar,  Amit (Kalu) S/o Jagdish Kumar all residents of village Kharkhara, Kathua involved in the illegal activity were arrested. A case FIR No. 383/2014 U/S 295-A/379 RPC and 3/5 PCA stands registered at P/S Kathua.
