Kathua police rescues 17 bovines, seizes vehicle

KATHUA, Aug 17: Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal today foiled bovine smuggling attempt in the jurisdiction of Police Station, Lakhanpur, rescued 17 bovines, arrested one person and seized the vehicle involved.
Police said a team of Police Station (PS) Lakhanpur led by Inspector, Sumeet Sharma, SHO PS Lakhanpur under the supervision of DySP, DAR, Kathua, Sukhdev Singh during routine naka checking in its jurisdictional area noticed one suspicious vehicle (truck) bearing Registration Number JK02BS-0445 which was being driven by person namely Amar Dev, son of Sanjib Dev of Lamding, Horlongpar Hojai, Assam. During checking of the vehicle 17 bovines were found loaded in it illegally. The police rescued 17 bovines, one person was arrested and the vehicle involved was also seized. A case FIR Number 91/2021 U/S 188/IPC, 11PCA Act has been registered at Police Station, Lakhanpur and further investigation has been set into motion accordingly.
