KATHUA; Dec, 8: In furtherance to tightening noose on bovine smuggling menace, a manhunt was launched by Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal against bovine smuggling, 19 bovines rescued, along with one vehicle (truck) was seized at Lakhanpur.
Police said a team led by Inspector, Jatinder Singh in charge SHO PS Lakhanpur under the supervision of DySP DAR, Sukhdev Singh during routine checking duty at Lakhanpur in its jurisdictional area noticed one suspicious vehicle (truck) bearing Registration Number, JK02AQ-3147 coming from Punjab towards Kathua was signaled to stop for checking at Truck Terminal Lakhanpur.
During checking, the police team was able to rescue 19 bovines (13 Oxen & 06 Cows) from the vehicle. An instant case vide FIR No. 99/2022 U/S 188/IPC 11 PCA Act has been registered at PS Lakhanpur and further investigation is going on. Thus overall 19 bovines were rescued and seized the vehicle involved.
