Kathua police rescues 27 bovines, arrests 5 smugglers

KATHUA, May 26: In continuation to thwart the conspiracies of bovine smuggling from the society, district police Kathua under the overall supervision of SSP, R C Kotwal today succeeded in foiling bovine smuggling attempt within the district, rescued 27 bovines, arrested five persons and seized one vehicle involved in animal smuggling.
Police team led by Inspector, Amit Sangra, SHO Police Station (PS) Rajbagh under the supervision of SDPO Border, Pankaj Soodan while on Naka/checking duty near NHW Rajbagh noticed one suspicious vehicle (Truck) bearing Registration Number, JK02AQ-2395 enrouted from Lakhanpur side towards Jammu which was being driven by a person namely Mohammad Ashad, son of Mohammad Liaqat of Gango tehsil Nukar district Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. On thorough checking, police team was able to found 15 bovines which were being transported without any legal permission. Thereafter all the 15 bovines ( 10 cows & 05 oxen) were rescued, one person was arrested and the vehicle involved was seized.
In this regard a case FIR No. 110/2022 U/S 188/ IPC, 11PCA Act was registered at Police Station Rajbagh and further investigation into this matter has been initiated.
In another instance acting on the reliable information that few persons were smuggling bovine animals from Lowang side towards Bhaderwah, Doda by foot. Acting swiftly police team of PS Bani headed by Inspector, Shahnawaz Giri SHO PS Bani under the supervision of SDPO Basohli, Shazia Akhter during patrolling duty near PCP Sarthal area apprehended four persons namely Mohammad Rafi son of Sain of Keri tehsil & district Pathankot, Zakir Hussain son of Marid Hussain of Chilli tehsil and district Jalandhar, Kamlesh Kumar, son of Dhain Singh of Fatehpur tehsil Bani and Sunil Kumar, son of Darshan Kumar of also of Fatehpur tehsil Bani district Kathua who were involved in transportation and smuggling of bovines by foot. On thorough checking 12 bovines were recovered from their illegal possession. Thereafter all the 12 bovines (eight cows, three oxen and one calf) were rescued and four persons were arrested on spot. A case vide FIR No. 38/2022 U/S 188/IPC has been registered at PS Bani and further investigation into this matter has been set into probe. Thus ,overall 27 bovines were rescued, five persons were arrested and one vehicle was seized.
