Kathua police seizes 170 qtls of Khair wood

KATHUA, Feb 15 :- Kathua Police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, Shivdeep Singh Jamwal seized 170 quintals of Khair wood from the vehicle at Chadwal Sanjimorh area under the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Rajbagh which was allegedly smuggled from the forest area of the district, one person was arrested and the vehicle was seized.
Police said today a team led by Sub Inspector (SI), Muzamil Manzoor, in charge Police Post (PP), Chadwal under the guidance of SDPO Border, Pankaj Soodan- during naka/patrolling duty in its jurisdictional area noticed one vehicle (Load Carrier) bearing Registration Number, JK08G-8779 driven by one Pankaj Sharma, son of Des Raj of Hiranagar who was Smuggling the banned wood. The vehicle was on way from Chadwal towards Marheen. The driver could not produce any document related to the sale and purchase of the Khair wood and therefore, the wood (Approximately 170 Quintals) along with vehicle was seized and the accused person was arrested on the spot.
A case FIR No. 34/2023 U/S 379/IPC, 26/33 Forest Act was registered at PS Rajbagh and further investigation started.
