Kathua Police seizes charas, illicit liquor

KATHUA, Nov 21: To make a complete check on smuggling of narcotic drugs, a police party headed by Inspector. Anil Sharma, SHO P/S Kathua laid a special naka at Barian Pattan, near here today.
During checking, one motorcycle without number when signaled to stop, the motor cyclist stopped the motorcycle little behind and he as well as pillion rider tried to escape from the spot. However police party chased and managed to catch hold of the duo at some distance.
While frisking of the duo identified as  Som Nath S/o Ram Nath R/o Jakhbar, Pathankot and Puri Nath S/o Aitwar Nath R/o Mansa Haryana A/P Ward No. 10 near Bus Stand Kathua, 245 gm. Charas was recovered from them on spot.
In this connection, a Case FIR No. 351/2017 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at P/S Kathua. On their interrogation, both the accused disclosed that the smuggled charas was to be sold at Kathua and adjoining areas in retail which was prevented by the active Police at naka point.
In an another bid to smuggle illicit liquor to Punjab, Kathua Police intercepted one pedestrian namely Som Raj alias Titu S/o Mulkh Raj R/o Barnoti, Kathua at Maggar Khad, Kathua adjoining to Punjab Border and recovered 20 liters of illicit liquor from his possession.
A Case under FIR No. 350/2017 U/S 48-a Excise Act stands registered at P/S Kathua against arrested persons. The whole operation was conducted by a police team headed by SHO P/S Kathua under the supervision of  S S Sambyal, DySP Hqrs. and overall supervision of SSP Suleman Choudhary.
