Kathua police seizes Heroin, arrests 2 drug peddlers

KATHUA, July 1 : In order to neutralize the activities of drug peddlers within the district, Kathua Police under the guidance of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal- today seized 100 grams of Heroin (Chitta) like narcotics in the jurisdictional area of Police Station (PS ) Lakhanpur, arrested tow drug peddlers and seized one vehicle.
Police said a team of PS Lakhanpur led by Inspector, Vijay Kotwal SHO Lakhanpur under the supervision of DySP DAR, Sukhdev Singh during patrolling duty in its jurisdictional area near New Excise Building, Lakhanpur yesterday noticed one suspicious vehicle (Maruti Breeza Car) bearing Registration Number ,JK02CC-3871 which was signaled to stop for checking.
On thorough checking approximately 80 grams of Heroin (Chitta) like narcotics was recovered from the illegal possession of one person namely Bobby Mehra, son of Raj Kumar and approximately 20 grams of heroin like narcotics from a lady namely Rani Devi wife of Raj Kumar both residents of Tope Sher Khaniea tehsil and district Jammu.
The contraband was seized by police on spot and both the drug peddlers were arrested vehicle involved was also seized. On this a case vide FIR No. 56/2022 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station, Lakhanpur and further investigation is underway.
